Sugar Maple is a slow-growing, long-lived native that is found in northern hardwood forests. It is known for its spectacular fall colors, sap production, and timber. Sugar Maples have winged samaras that provide food for wildlife and is often a habitat for mammals and birds. It can persist as a seedling in the forest shade for many years until an opening occurs.
