Zizia aurea, or Golden Alexander, is a perennial wildflower native to the UP. It grows approximately 3 feet tall and usually blooms in early June. Golden Alexander prefers dappled shade and moist soil, but will tolerate full sun and medium soil, including loam, clay, and sandy loam. Great for ditches and meadows. Its yellow cluster of blossoms is popular with pollinators, especially butterflies.
