Wolf River is an American cultivar of domesticated apple (heritage apple), which originates from the shores of the Wolf River of Wisconsin, known since 1875. The tree is exceptionally frost hardy and generally disease resistant. Wolf River produces large, some say enormous, hard apples that store well. These apples are great for deer and cooking, only 2-3 needed for a pie, and reportedly makes a wonderful apple butter. Wolf Rivers bloom mid-season and ripen in October.
These are hefty, bare root trees. They are generally 5' to 7' tall with a stem diameter of greater than 1/2".
