*‘Plugs’, also called *Container grown seedlings - have been grown in containers. These plugs have a whole root system that begins to grow immediately after planting. The plugs have peat moss offering some protection for the intact root system during handling and planting. The trays they are grown in are designed to produce a more natural root system as compared to other tray types. The trays expose the roots to the air to produce a more fibrous root system with many root hairs and root ‘buds’. The plugs come removed from the trays, bundled and packed in boxes or wrapped in paper.
